![]() ![]() ![]() While deeper networks is still figuring out the support model for this. More nodes equals more bandwidth in this scenario. the theoretical max is 40mbps that you'll see for your speed test.Īs more nodes go out there, I'm sure that the number of connections will get opened up be Deeper Networks. ![]() each person has the option to "restrict" how much of their bandwidth, they are sharing. some may have a little more bandwidth than 3-4mbps so hopefully it will be a little more than 4 times that but it's really a little random.Īlso take into account that under the sharing options. Basically if you were seeing 3-4mbps on the full route then you should be seeing about 4 times that on Smart Route. What that means is that you are using the combined bandwidth of 4 peoples home internet connections to get your download. I don't see an exposed option to increase that number. Right now it seems that Deeper Connect is limiting that to 4 connections per Tunnel. So you will be limited by the number of connections you are bonding together. again relying on whatever their home internet connection is and not everyone has fiber. The next thing you need to understand is that with Smart Route, you are basically bonding a few peoples internet connections together. So Smart Route should be the preferred method for those looking for increased bandwidth. Based on how the technology works, I wouldn't recommend anyone use FULL DPN as that is no different that using a traditional VPN service only you are relying on someone else's single home internet connection for all your bandwidth and not everyone in the world runs fiber to their home like we are starting to do here in North America. ![]() Nothing I have seen here in these posts on speed has gone against all the descriptions of how the technology should work. When using Smart Route with DPN and using a download that is multipoint like a Torrent file, I get full access to the 100mb connection I have at home (less a small amount for the VPN overhead) again, exactly as expected. Via Smart Route it's a higher because the control plane traffic can use a separate tunnel and full route the speed goes to pot because everything is routed to a single IP not a tunnel with 4 connections as it shows. When running a single stream test like I get results consistent with being routed via a connection to a single persons internet somewhere else in the country I have selected. So what I can confirm is that the device works as I would expect it too. The Full Tunnel would be my best choice if the speed loss weren't so great, but my initial experiments were problematic. I need to experiment again with the Smart Tunnel option. How does the Mini and its software handle this? And how long does it take the device to recover from this state (or does it)? I later realized that since I'm connected through another user's IP address, if they turn off their modem, reboot, or have a power outage, or anything similar, my connection will suddenly be terminated. I lost the internet connection suddenly and completely. Losing a couple of Mbps before was fine and understandable. I cycled through the IP addresses available and with one of them my download speed doubled, to about 6Mbps, but there is no guarantee it will stay there. After the upgrade, I still have speeds between 3-4Mbps. Using Full Tunnel Mode before I had connection speeds of 3-4Mbps. Previously my download speed was usually in the 6-7Mbps range now it is in the 50-60Mbps range. I finally was able to get my low-quality DSL service upgraded to a Fiber connection. ![]()
